Enhancing Skin Penetration of Epidermal Growth Factor Using Macromolecule Transduction Domain-Infused Functional Peptide 논문 이미지


The study presents an innovative approach to enhance the skin penetration efficiency of Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) for improved therapeutic and cosmetic applications. Recognizing the limitations of EGF's natural skin penetration due to the stratum corneum barrier, this research focused on developing a recombinant human EGF fused with Macromolecule Transduction Domain (MTD) 151, known for its skin penetration capability. The recombinant MTD151-EGF demonstrated superior skin absorption and cellular proliferation effects compared to conventional EGF. Notably, the purified MTD151-EGF showed equivalent or better cell proliferation activity without inducing cytotoxic effects. Furthermore, through artificial skin penetration models, it was observed that MTD151-EGF exhibited significantly enhanced dermal penetration capabilities, approximately 16 times higher than standard EGF. These findings suggest the potential of MTD-infused peptides as a groundbreaking method for effective transdermal delivery of active ingredients in cosmetics and therapeutics.

The incorporation of MTD151-EGF aligns with Novastem's commitment to enhancing stem cell therapies through innovative delivery methods. By improving the skin penetration of growth factors like EGF, Novastem could significantly augment the efficacy of treatments for skin-related conditions, including wound healing and regeneration after cosmetic procedures.
